Advocacy Services

We are the voice you need when you feel that the professionals working with you are not listening to you or you do not feel confident to express your views.

At Verachilly Social Care, we believe that Advocacy services help people take more control of their lives by making sure they have the right, and opportunity, to contribute to the discussions and decisions about the services and treatment they get. The main aim of advocacy is to support people to express their needs and views effectively to the people involved in their care and dealings with health and social work services. Therefore, advocacy enables you to make informed choices about, and remain in control of, your care.

We can deliver all advocacy services on a spot purchase basis, to help you meet unexpected demands or support your clients placed out of the area. Please contact us.

Why do we need Independent Advocacy?

Verachilly Independent Advocacy services are completely independent of the local authorities and big organisations therefore our role cannot be influenced and we are with you all the way to enable you to use your voice, be seen and heard!

Independent Advocacy is a way to help people to have a stronger voice and to have as much control as possible over their own lives.

At Verachilly, our independent advocates will not make decisions on behalf of the person/group they are supporting. The independent advocate helps the person/group to get the information they need to make real choices about their circumstances and supports the person/group to put their choices across to others.

Our independent advocates may speak on behalf of people who are unable to do so for themselves.

Our advocates will listen to what you say and help you find information about the choices you may have.

Advocacy is a way to enable people to make informed choices and to remain in control of their care.

Sometimes people don’t explain the things they have said or the decisions that have made and that can make us feel confused. Sometimes it can be difficult to tell people about the things you want or to disagree with what someone has said.

Your advocate will always make sure that decisions are explained to you in a way that you can understand

To help your advocate remember your discussion, sometimes your advocate may write down some of the things you say. You will always be able to look at what is written about you. Your advocate will ensure that everything they write is kept safe using our data protection procedure.

We have a referral form for professionals and those making self-referral. Please feel free to contact us to discuss your advocacy requirement and a member of the team will send this form to you.
